CONSTRUCTION PHOTOGRAPHS

Photographs in this 3-page section depict the various stages of panel installation of some of the buildings shown in their finished state in the previous section, Photographs of Buildings. The first on this page is an existing 4-story office building built in the 1950's which was fully occupied during the renovation which was executed primarily from the building exterior.

Working with a strict weight limitation, the architectural engineer devised an overcladding technique which leaves the existing wall in place while a tubular aluminum gridwork is applied to the existing brick wall. This sub-frame forms the support for the new double glazed curtain wall and thin granite panels.

Workers on a scissors lift platform are installing the spandrel panels. These workers are glaziers and they also installed the glass panels. The panels are about 4' x 7' and weigh about 150 lbs. which is less than the double glass panels. The panel on the A-frame shows the structural framing and stiffeners of the TS Wall System.

The ribbon windows are set back about 6" and the spandrel panels have a 6" sloping sill and a soffit return which are locked into the wallpanel framing.
